Developmental Services for Infants, Toddlers & their Families

Early intervention services provide support to infants, toddlers, and their families to help children achieve their potential. If a family has questions about how their child is growing or developing, NAPPR staff can provide guidance and services to meet the needs of individual families.

NAPPR is one of 33 programs in the state of New Mexico under contract with the New Mexico Department of Health, Family Infant Toddler Program. (Link to NMDOH/FIT website here) NAPPR Early Intervention Program has been in existence since 1982. It is a well established program, with a strong reputation for providing culturally sensitive services to Native American children and families in the counties of Bernalillo, Cibola, Sandoval, and Valencia. NAPPR services are flexible and based on family preferences. Most services take place in the family's home, or other settings (such as child care) that are natural for the child. Eligibility for NAPPR services is not based on income. Click on any of our services below to learn more:

Making a Referral

Family members, health care providers, or others who know the child may make a referral by phone or in person. Anyone who is not the parent or caregiver must get the parent’s permission before calling NAPPR with the referral. If there are concerns about how a child is communicating, using his or her muscles, interacting with people, or solving problems now is the time to refer. Research shows that the best opportunity to catch up on skills is when the child is very young and the brain is still developing at a rapid pace. Please also call us if you just want to have a child’s development checked to make sure that they are developing appropriately.

There are no fees for NAPPR services. If a child is eligible for services, Medicaid, private insurance, or state general funds will be billed, depending on the family’s situation. Services are never refused due to a family’s inability to pay.

You may make a referral or request a developmental screening by calling 505.345.6289 or Click Here to have one of our staff members call you.
