Early Intervention Services

Developmental Screening and Monitoring

All Native American children through age three residing in the counties served can receive periodic developmental testing. A family may request screening due to any concern about a child's developmental progress.

Assessment / Evaluation

Further testing may be required after the developmental screening is completed. Assessments and Evaluations provide more information about a child's health and development in order to determine eligibility and/or need for additional services. The Evaluation team will consider the child’s development in the following areas: thinking skills, communication, physical/motor, social/emotional and what skills your child independently.

Ongoing Services

The family and team of early childhood professionals together will determine what services might be helpful for the child and family. These services may include general child developmental guidance, speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, social work/family support, and other services available in the community.

Service Coordination

All families enrolled in NAPPR receive assistance in obtaining benefits, services, and resources appropriate to the needs of the child and family.

Parent/Caregiver Education

Information is provided to the family on a variety of child-related topics such as health/safety, infant massage, child development, discipline, attachment and bonding, and other parenting issues.

Training and Technical Assistance

NAPPR provides consultation to community resources, day care providers, parent groups and other community members.

Transition to Other Services at Age 3

NAPPR will provide assistance with locating appropriate school, preschool programs, or child care settings when your child is no longer age eligible for our services. If children are eligible for public school services, we will assist with this transition process.
