Dental Support Center
The Albuquerque Area Dental Support Center provides preventive and clinical support, training and technical consultation to all dental programs in the Albuquerque Area of Indian Health Service (New Mexico, Southern Colorado, and El Paso, Texas).
The long term goal of the Support Center is to improve the oral health status of American Indians/Alaska Natives.
The Support Center provides:
- Continuing Education opportunities for dental professionals working in Indian Country
- Training in communication techniques, use of the media, customer service, workflow enhancement, relationship development, and other topics
- Data collection and analysis
- Site specific support to Area dental programs
- Development and implementation of communication strategies to increase awareness of the importance of oral health
- Workshops and trainings on oral health
- Development, publishing and distribution of culturally relevant oral health messages in a variety of formats
- Educational materials and/or educational presentations to parent groups, tribal councils, school boards, and elders on oral health topics
- Training and technical support to other programs working in Indian Country such as CHRs, Head Start, and WIC.
