NAPPR Receives Family-Friendly Business Award

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - May 30, 2018 - Native American Parent Professional Resources (NAPPR) has been named one of state’s family-friend businesses by the New Mexico Task Force on Work Life Balance. NAPPR was awarded the Silver Level Award for meeting three of four categories that include paid leave, such as personal or family leave, and health support, such as offering health and dental, designated breastfeeding areas or wellness programs.

Other categories include offering flexible work schedules, such as job sharing, telecommuting or offering two weeks notice for work schedules and economic support, such as offering higher wages, subsidized training, retirement or asset building and on-site childcare or subsidized childcare or adult care.

Ruth Aguirre, NAPPR business manager who applied for the award, said she nominated the nonprofit because of NAPPR’s progressive policies – NAPPR pays 100 percent of its employees’ health, dental, vision, life insurance and short/long term insurance. The organization also offers a flex schedule and recently introduced a wellness program.

“NAPPR is a positive environment,” said Aguirre, who added that for her personally the organization allows for a work-life balance. “NAPPR truly cares for its employees.”

NAPPR is one of 14 businesses that have been given the Silver Level Award so far in 2018. This is the second New Mexico Family Friendly Business recognition for NAPPR. The organization was given the Gold Level Award in 2017.

The New Mexico Task Force on Work Life Balance created the program in 2015 in to recognize businesses throughout the state with family-friendly policies. Research shows that businesses that have family-friendly policies can recruit better candidates, have better employees retention and can increase productivity level.
