Early Head Start

In March 2010, NAPPR was selected to begin a new Early Head Start program in the Albuquerque area.  This program was initially funded by federal ARRA Early Head Start Expansion funds through the Department of Health and Human Services. The program has since received a five year grant through the Department of Health and Human Services.    Early Head Start is a two-generation program designed to provide high-quality child and family development services to income eligible pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers.  NAPPR serves 72 expectant women and families through a combination of home-based and center-based services.

Currently the NAPPR Early Head Start program provides child care services for 16 children, aged 12 months thru 36 months at our Child Care Center.  The Child Care Center is located at 5407 4th Street in Albuquerque N.M.  The child care center follows a 1 teacher to 4 children ratio; group sizes never exceed 8 children in a classroom. The center is licensed through the NM licensing program and currently holds a two star license. The child care center is open year around and the center’s operating hours are Monday thru Friday 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.

The Home Based program offers services to 56 expectant women and families with infants and toddlers within Bernalillo and Sandoval counties.  The Home Based program provides educational activities, parenting resources, bi monthly socializations and much more.  Home visits occur in the home once a week for an hour and a half.  The Home Based program uses the Parents as Teachers curriculum as well as administering developmental screenings.  All services are provided to families free of charge.

NAPPR Early Head Startis more than just an educational system.  It is a comprehensive program designed to empower the families we serve and dedicated to improving the lives of low-income families living in our community.

We also encourage and promote transitional services and activities to prepare the children and families prior to attending local Head Starts, Child Care, Pre K or public school
